Information on How to Improve Your Mood with Food

A lot of us believe that comfort foods are bad for us and that we should keep away from them. At times, if your comfort food is basically candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to consume. There are several foods that, when you consume them, can improve your mood. If you feel a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try several of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are wonderful for helping you battle depression. Just see to it that you don’t get rid of the yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that is the most important in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the egg yolk especially, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are wonderful for helping to elevate your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–run better. Try to eat an egg and feel a lot better!

Put together a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all helpful for improving your mood. This is possible because these foods are rich in magnesium which raises serotonin production. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that dictates to your brain how you feel day in and day out. The higher your levels of serotonin, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Not only that, nuts, specifically, are a great source of protein.

If you would like to fight depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you fight your depression.

Some grains are actually excellent for repelling bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly excellent for helping increase your happiness levels. They help you feel full as well which can truly help to improve your mood. Feeling hungry can actually make you feel terrible! The reason these grains are so wonderful for your mood is that they are not difficult for your body to digest and process. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Green tea is truly excellent for your mood. You were just expecting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has proved that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This helps better your mental sharpness while relaxing the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you be a lot healthier. Now you know that green tea can elevate your mood too!

As you can see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you want to feel better! Try a couple of of these hints instead.
