Foods That Can Make Your Mood Better

A lot of us have been trained to think that comfort foods are terrible and should be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be very nutritious and good for us to eat. Some foods honestly do boost your mood when you consume them. If you feel a little bit down and you need a happiness pick me up, try a few of these.

Eggs, you may be surprised to find out, are great at fighting depression. Just see to it that you do not throw away the yolk. The egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the yolk particularly, are stuffed full of B vitamins. B vitamins can really help you raise your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–work better. Try eating a couple of eggs to feel better!

Put together a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Your mood can be improved by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc. This is possible since these foods are rich in magnesium which raises your production of serotonin. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The more you have of it, the more pleasant you will feel. Not only that but nuts, particularly, are a fantastic protein food source.

If you would like to fight depression, try eating some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 and DHA. These are two substances that boost the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly raise your mood.

It’s easy to fight your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all great for helping you feel better. They fill you up better and that can help you with your moods too. It’s not hard to feel a little bit off when you feel famished! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. You digest these grains quicker than other foods which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.

Your mood could really be helped by green tea. You were sure green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea is high in a particular amino acid called L-theanine. Research has discovered that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This helps improve your mental energy while at the same time calming your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you become so much healthier. Now you are aware that green tea can help you be happier as well!

So you see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are not good for you just so to feel better! Try a few of these instead!
