Foods That Can Make You Happy

A lot of us think that comfort foods are not good for us and that we need to avoid them. At times, if the comfort food is candy or some other junk food, this is true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be totally nourishing and it’s good for you to eat them. A number of foods really do raise your mood when you eat them. If you feel a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be actually great at fighting back depression. You need to see to it, though, that what you make includes the egg yolk. Whenever you wish to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolk particularly, are high in B vitamins. B vitamins can actually help you raise your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–work better. Try eating some eggs to jolly up!

Make a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Your mood can be elevated by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is because these foods are rich in magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin levels. Serotonin is called the “feel good” chemical and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The more of it you have, the better you are going to feel. Not just that, nuts, particularly, are a fantastic source of protein.

Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you wish to combat depression. Herring, trout, tuna, wild salmon, and mackerel are all rich in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you fight back depression.

It’s not difficult to overcome your bad mood when you are eating grains. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are terrific at helping you be happier. They fill you up better and that can help you with your moods also. It’s not hard to feel a little bit off when you feel famished! These grains can elevate your mood as it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Green tea is actually good for your mood. You knew it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea has been found to be chock-full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies show that this particular amino acid can essentially induce brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while simultaneously calming the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you be a lot healthier. Now you know it can help improve your mood also!

Now you can see that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Try a few of these hints instead.
