Many of us have been conditioned to think that comfort foods are not good and must be avoided. At times, if the comfort food is candy or some other junk food, this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to eat. There are some foods that, when you consume them, could improve your mood. When you feel a little down and are needing an emotional boost, try a few of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be really wonderful at beating back depression. Just make sure that you do not throw away the yolk. The egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping you cheer up. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are full of B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to elevate your mood. This is because they increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Try consuming some eggs to feel better!

Put together some trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all great for elevating your mood. This is because these foods are high in magnesium, which helps to raise your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that tells the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The more serotonin you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Not only that but nuts, specifically, are a terrific protein food source.

If you want to defeat depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Tuna, trout, mackerel, herring and wild salmon are all rich in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: chomping on a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you fight back depression.

Some grains are actually wonderful for repelling bad moods. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all good for helping you feel happier. They help you feel full as well which can truly help to make your mood better. Feeling starved can be a real downer! The reason these grains are so wonderful for your mood is that they are easy to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Green tea is wonderful for moods. You just knew it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid actually stimulates brain waves. This helps better your mental focus while calming the rest of your body.
