Foods That Can Make You Happy

Many of us have been trained to believe that comfort foods are bad and must be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this is true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be super healthy and good for you. Some foods actually do raise your mood when you eat them. If you seem to feel a little bit down and you need a happiness pick me up, try a few of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be really wonderful at beating back depression. You should be sure, however, that what you make includes the yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, specifically the yolks, are full of B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be great for boosting your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–run better. Eat some eggs to cheer up!

Make a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera are all terrific for helping to boost your mood. This is possible because these foods are high in magnesium which raises your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that directs the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The more of this chemical in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Not just that, nuts, specifically, are a great protein source.

If you would like to fight depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you overcome your depression.

It’s not difficult to overcome your bad mood when you consume grains. Barley, quinoa, millet, teff, etc are all good for helping you feel better. These foods can help you feel full for longer also, which can help your mood too. Feeling hungry can really make you feel awful! These grains can help your mood elevate as it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps promote a rise in your blood glucose which in turn kicks up your mood to a happier place.

Green tea is excellent for moods. You were sure green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has discovered that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously making the rest of your body more relaxed. You already knew green tea could help you be so much healthier. Now you know that applies to your mood too!

As you can see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you wish to feel better! Try several of these instead!
