Foods That Can Make You Happy

A lot of us think that comfort foods are not good for us and that we need to stay away from them. Sometimes, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be very healthy and good for us to eat. Some foods honestly do improve your mood when you consume them. When you are feeling a little down and are in need of an emotional pick-me-up, test out a few of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly terrific at fighting back depression. Just be sure that you do not throw away the egg yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the egg yolk especially, are stuffed full of B vitamins. B vitamins can be terrific for raising your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–work better. Eat some eggs to jolly up!

Put together a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Your mood can be raised by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is possible since these foods are high in magnesium which promotes serotonin production. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that directs the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The more of it you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Not just that, nuts, specifically, are a terrific protein source.

Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you wish to fight depression. Tuna, trout, mackerel, herring and wild salmon are all full of omega-3 fats and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you battle your depression.

Grains can be excellent for overcoming a bad mood. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are excellent at helping you have a happier mood. These foods can help you feel full for longer also, helping you feel better. It’s easy to feel low when you are starving! These grains can elevate your mood because it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. You digest these grains more quickly than other foods which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.

Green tea is really great for your mood. You just knew green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea is rich in a specific amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This helps sharpen your mental energy while at the same time relaxing the rest of your body. You already knew green tea could help you feel healthier. Now you know that it helps you to lift your moods also!

As you can see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you are wanting to feel better! Go with these tips instead!
