Agar is used to enhance the texture of puddings, ice creams, jellies, gummies, soups and sauces. In Japan, agar and the desserts made from it are called kanten. Kanten can be prepared with almost every fruit. I especially like kanten with strawberries as the red and sweet fruits remain firm and fresh in the jelly. A beautiful example of bright colours is a milk based kanten with the red berries.

Information on How to Elevate Your Mood with Food

Many of us have been conditioned to think that comfort foods are not good and must be avoided. Sometimes, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be completely nourishing and it’s good for you to eat them. Some foods actually do improve your mood when you consume them. If you are feeling a little bit down and you’re in need of a happiness pick me up, try some of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be really great at beating back depression. Just see to it that you don’t throw away the yolk. The yolk is the most important part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the egg yolks in particular, are high in B vitamins. B vitamins can be fantastic for lifting up your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–function better. Try to eat an egg and feel better!

Make a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all terrific for helping to boost your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have plenty of magnesium which boosts your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is called the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling day in and day out. The more of this chemical in your brain, the better you’ll feel. Not only that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein source.

Cold water fish are good if you are wanting to be in a better mood. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all high in omega-3s and DHA. These are two substances that promote the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can really help you fight back depression.

It’s not difficult to overcome your bad mood when you are eating grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually great for helping boost your happiness levels. These grains can help you feel full for longer also, helping you feel better. Feeling starved can be terrible! The reason these grains help your mood so much is that they are not difficult for your stomach to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Green tea is wonderful for moods. You were sure it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is found to be rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has proved that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously calming your body. You probably already knew it is not difficult to get healthy when you drink green tea. Now you are well aware that green tea helps you to elevate your moods too!

As you can see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are terrible for you so you can feel better! Try some of these instead!
