Foods That Can Make You Happy

In general, people have been trained to think that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and must be avoided. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this holds true. Other times, comfort foods can be very healthy and good for us to consume. Some foods actually do elevate your mood when you eat them. If you seem to be a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try several of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, are fantastic for helping you combat depression. You need to be sure, though, that what you make includes the yolk. The yolk is the most essential part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the yolk especially, are high in B vitamins. B vitamins can be great for lifting up your mood. This is because these vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that tell you how to feel). Try to eat an egg and feel happier!

Put together a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be improved by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to boost your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that tells the brain how to feel at any given time. The more you have of it, the better you will feel. Not only that but nuts, particularly, are a fantastic protein source.

Cold water fish are excellent if you want to feel happier. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all rich in omega-3 fats and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you overcome your depression.

It’s not hard to fight your bad mood when you are eating grains. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are great at helping you feel happier. They help you feel full also which can really help to improve your mood. Feeling hungry can actually bring you down! These grains can elevate your mood since it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Green tea is truly excellent for your mood. You were simply anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with a specific amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have shown that this amino acid basically induces brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you feel a lot healthier. Now you are well aware that it helps you to elevate your moods as well!

So you see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are not good for you so you can feel better! Try some of these suggestions instead.
