Foods That Can Make Your Mood Better

For the most part, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and need to be avoided. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be perfectly healthy and good for us to eat. There are several foods that, when you eat them, could boost your mood. If you feel a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be actually wonderful at beating back depression. Just make sure that you do not throw away the yolk. The egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping raise your mood. Eggs, specifically the yolks, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can be fantastic for lifting up your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–function better. Try consuming a couple of eggs to jolly up!

Make a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Your mood can be improved by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because seeds and nuts have a lot of magnesium which boosts your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that directs the brain how to feel at any given time. The more of this chemical in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Nuts, on top of bettering your mood, can be a super protein source.

If you would like to battle depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all high in omega-3 and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can greatly boost your mood.

Grains can be wonderful for overcoming a bad mood. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all really excellent for helping increase your happiness levels. They can help you feel full for longer as well, helping you feel better. Feeling famished can really make you feel terrible! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are not difficult to digest. You digest these foods quicker than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.

Your mood can truly be helped by green tea. You were simply anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea has been found to be rich in an amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while at the same loosening up the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you feel a lot healthier. Now you know that it helps you to lift your moods also!

Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Try a couple of of these hints instead.
