Use Food to Boost Your Mood

Mostly, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and need to be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be completely nourishing and it’s good for you to eat them. Several foods honestly do elevate your mood when you consume them. If you feel a little bit down and need a happiness pick me up, try a few of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, are fantastic for helping you combat depression. You should be sure, though, that what you make includes the yolk. Every time you would like to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolks in particular, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to improve your mood. This is because these vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that tell you how to feel). Eat an egg and be happy!

Make a trail mixfrom various seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that dictates to your brain how you feel all the time. The more serotonin you have, the happier you are going to feel. Not just that but nuts, in particular, are a terrific protein food source.

If you want to defeat depression, try eating some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all high in omega-3s and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can really help you overcome depression.

Grains can be good for fighting a bad mood. Barley, quinoa, millet, teff, etc are all excellent for helping you be in a happier state of mind. They can help you feel full for longer also, helping you feel better. It’s not hard to feel a little bit off when you are starving! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are not hard to digest. You digest them faster than other foods which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.

Green tea is excellent for moods. You were simply waiting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with a specific amino acid called L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you become better. Now you know that applies to your mood also!

You can see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are not good for you to feel better! Try a couple of of these tips instead.
